global business development | cross-cultural collaborations | business transformation
I’m married with two fantastic boys. The elder kid has already left home and is studying in France, and the younger one lives with me and my lovely wife in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm quite lucky to have a family with radically different mindsets and ranges of interests that bring us constant learning from each other via inspiring discussions.
I am a passionate (outdoor) sportsman, and Sweden treats me to the very best by offering many breathtaking opportunities for hiking, kayaking, or cross-country skiing in wintertime. What I especially enjoy is the long-distance running in nature; beyond its great challenge to my performance, it brings me-time to focus on myself with no distractions, to be quiet, and just reflect. It's a form of meditation to me.
I've spent 20 years working for and building successful businesses worldwide, including countries with highly different cultures like South Africa and Japan. I see myself as a truly global business manager; on the one hand, with a well-rounded experience in building winning local product-market-fit propositions rooted in global solutions, on the other hand, building high-performance teams with cross-cultural settings (something I enjoy a lot), with various type of competences and different approaches towards problems to be able to deliver with excellence on ambition.
Challenging myself and the status quo fuels my performance and drives me to do things better and better. Going a little bit beyond, trying beaten tracks, learning new things, and outperforming what is expected – that’s energizing me in both my private and professional lives. The harder the challenge is, the more excited I am to take it and to find the best way to overcome it.
“The only certainty I have is that I am in doubt” – my favorite (loosely translated from French) quote reflects my way of thinking, that at no point you can believe that “you're there”. You always have to be a bit critical, willing to listen, and monitor the outcome of your decision consciously. This way of thinking also enables you to react and pivot quickly and flexibly if needed because you know that things can always happen differently.
I originally come from sales, and I love the intellectual challenges of dealing with Customers because assignments can never be the same. Careful listening to what Clients need, understanding their challenges, and having the right dialogue with them to see how I can support them in finding their tailor-made direction to deliver results are my modus operandi.
